Subwoofer (Produits: 23)

Subwoofers

Around 40 years after the presentation of the first loudspeakers at the Funkausstellung in Berlin, Raymon Dones presented one of the first subwoofers at the New York World's Fair in 1964. This new system was mainly used for professional applications such as film productions and studios. Subwoofers then found their way into consumer electronics in the 1970s. Since then, subwoofers have become an integral part of many audio and entertainment systems. They help to amplify the bass range and thus create an even more immersive sound experience. After all, subwoofers produce a deep, immersive sound that changes the way you listen to and experience music.

Active or passive?

If you are now faced with the choice of which subwoofer is best suited for integration into your audio system, it is necessary to differentiate between the categories “active” and “passive”. A subwoofer is considered “active” if it is equipped with its amplifier. The signal is amplified before it is passed on to the speaker. An active subwoofer also requires a power supply. Active subwoofers can also have volume controls, crossover controls, and, if necessary, an equalizer.

Passive subwoofers, on the other hand, require an external amplifier to enhance the signal before it is passed on to the speaker via a cable. This design also makes passive subwoofers lighter and more compact than active subwoofers. Setting up and integrating a passive subwoofer into an existing system is somewhat more complex, but this is also the advantage of using such a subwoofer: it is possible to choose an amplifier that fits your needs and your project perfectly.

Bass reflex for an (even) better sound

Our range also includes bass reflex subwoofers for you to choose from. The OMNITRONIC PAS-181 MK3 subwoofer, for example, is an 18-inch bass reflex subwoofer with 900 W RMS. The robust professional subwoofer is ideally suited for use in clubs and dance schools, for mobile use, and in restaurants, bars, and hotels. A bass reflex subwoofer has a special speaker cabinet. This was developed to improve the performance of the subwoofer by using a special port design. This additional opening in the housing of the bass reflex subwoofer makes it possible for air to flow into the subwoofer. The bass response is thus amplified and extended. Lower frequencies are reproduced to produce a more powerful bass than would be the case with conventional active or passive subwoofers with closed housing.

Do you still have questions about our active subwoofers, passive subwoofers, or bass reflex subwoofers from our range? They will be happy to help you select a suitable subwoofer and put together a bass reflex system for your event location, for example.
