Moving lights are spotlights that, among other things, provide movement and dynamic lighting on rock and festival stages, but also on nightclub dance floors. With the moving light, it is easily possible to direct the light beam in different directions and thus flexibly illuminate different areas. What are the different types of moving lights?

Stage lighting basically uses three different types of moving light:

• • Moving Heads:
  With this type of effect spotlight, the complete projection head is moved, directing the light to the different angles of the stage. These special spotlights are very popular mainly because of their large radius of action.



• • Scanner:
  In the scanner, the light beam is controlled by an electromechanically movable mirror. The angle determines where the light falls. Because of the low mass of the mirror, the light beam can be positioned faster than with moving heads, for example.



• • Moving Effects:
  Moving effects are moving light effects that, for example, bring classic beam effects onto the basis of a moving head and thus offer even more flexibility in application.

Different devices for different effects

Within the group of moving heads there are several models, all of which you can find in our store. A distinction is made between Beam, Wash and Spot:

• • Moving Head Spot:
  With the help of the cone-shaped light beam of the spots, it is possible to illuminate objects in a targeted manner. Colors and effects can be used to direct attention to a specific point. Most spots can also be equipped with gobos or prisms to further change the projection.


• • Moving Head Washer:
  The Washer is used to illuminate entire surfaces. These devices have a very wide beam angle and the edges of the light cone are very soft.


• • Moving Head Beam:
  The beam moving head emits a particularly sharply defined, narrow beam of light. It is often used on stages, at rock shows and concerts, because you can achieve impressive effects with beams there. A representative of this category is for example the FUTURELIGHT DMB-50 LED Moving-Head.
