Wall speaker
The Installation & Commercial Audio Systems category includes powerful sound reinforcement solutions for fixed installation. Colloquially, these are also referred to as wall speakers or wall boxes. They are used wherever a background sound system is to be implemented that impresses with its good sound and unobtrusive appearance. Thus, bars, restaurants and pubs, but also retail stores are often equipped with them.
How do wall speakers differ from other speakers?
Wall speakers are primarily suitable for fixed mounting on the wall. With appropriate wall brackets, the boxes can be discreetly mounted in different places in the room.
What are the speakers for wall mounting?

- • Active speaker pairs (Two speakers with integrated amplifier)
- • Passive speaker pairs (Two speakers without integrated amplifiers)

- • Loudspeaker sets with tops and subwoofer

What is the difference between active and passive speakers?
If a wall speaker is active, it means that it has a built-in amplifier. Therefore, you only need to connect the appropriate source to the signal input.
A passive wall speaker, on the other hand, requires an additional external amplifier for operation. The passive speakers are supplied with power via this amplifier. The amplifier is connected to the source that supplies the signal.
Some speaker models and speaker systems also have radio transmission. Instead of an active Bluetooth speaker for wall mounting, most use an amplifier that is already equipped with Bluetooth function or can be easily retrofitted via an audio output.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of passive boxes for wall mounting?
A great advantage of passive speakers is the flexibility of the entire system. Because in order to improve the sound, individual elements can be replaced here at any time.
In addition, not every single speaker needs to be connected to the mains. The speakers only need to be connected to the amplifier. The cables can be laid discreetly in cable ducts or above a false ceiling.
Passive boxes are mostly cheaper and somewhat less susceptible to interference. Due to the lack of electronics, they also have less weight. However, they are not as compact and easy to handle as active speakers, where the amplifier is already integrated and ideally matched to the speaker.
